Timekeeping Transponder
  • Wells November 2011
Does anyone have any pictures of the timekeeping transponder attached to their car? I am new to this forum and very interested in the Greenpower program. Any help I can get will be extremely helpful.

The transponders are not kept by teams between races. There will be a thread with pictures of transponders and there are CAD files of a DIY transponder bracket floating about the ether somewhere. I'll try to look them out at lunch time, if I get the chance.

That's the one. You obviously don't have a full day's teaching today Steve.

@Wells, remember that there are two types of transponder. The other type needs to be cable tied separately but the clip described allows you to do that. Note that the size of the transponder is included in the thread.

    A couple of tips:

The transponder must be positioned with clear air between it and the road

Try to position it so that marshalls can see the face to check the status of the LED

Note the indemnity clause. If the transponder drops out and breaks, YOU are responsible. Good luck.

Nice to see so many peeps using the cad files :-)

OK.... the question is does anyone have pictures of this on their car? Where do most put this and how is the perfered method?

Thanks for the thred link it helps some.... Also thanks to SKS and crag rat.....
  • the base of the transponder has to be able to 'see' the ground. ie not be blocked by metal work. personally, we put ours on the back of the car. but usually, a bracket and cable ties are provided at race admin when you sign on.
