The Greenpower International Final, taking place on Sunday 11 October, will mark the culmination of a year-long race series, intended to encourage young people into Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) through a unique motorsport challenge.

Teams consisting of 11-25-year olds will vie for a position in the final by qualifying from events around the country throughout 2020; venues in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland will play host to Greenpower races, including the second annual Hull Street Race in May.

Such is the appeal of Greenpower’s challenge that it attracts international teams, most recently from Poland, Singapore and Spain, putting their motorsport skills against home-grown talent.

His Grace, The Duke of Richmond and Gordon, Patron of Greenpower Education Trust commented on the announcement: “The young people of Greenpower have been racing here at Goodwood for over 20 years and I am very pleased that their International Final will be returning to Goodwood this year. Greenpower started at Goodwood and we have always been very pleased to support their work in helping thousands of young people to be inspired to undertake a technical career, and to have a fantastic time doing so.”

Paul van Veggel, CEO of Greenpower Education Trust added: “The first-ever Greenpower event was held at Goodwood in 1999 and it seems only fitting to return to where we made our debut for such an exciting and important event. Since the beginning it has been our mission to spark young people’s interest in STEM, and we now work with 750 teams and 11,000 students each year in the UK and around the world. The final creates a real buzz within the Greenpower community and gives young people a target towards which they can work throughout the year. The circuit has played host to many famous names and cars over the years; and we are delighted that we can host the 2020 Greenpower International Final at such an historic racing venue.”
