Goblins Regulations 2007
*2007 mandatory Goblin upgrades, as well as new items available for your kit, are listed on the main Goblin page, reached from the 'Racing' menu.*
The Greenpower Goblin is a simple to build 24-volt electric kit car that provides both an excellent grounding in basic engineering skills and a safe and durable car when finished in which pupils can compete in organised races and events. The basic mechanical components of the car must not be altered.
Designed by Greenpower using the experience gained from its Formula 24 secondary school car races, the Goblin kit has been developed over the last five years to a point where it offers a genuine mechanical and electrical assembly experience from which all those involved will learn the basics of electric circuitry, mechanical drives, steering, brakes, and teamwork in a competitive environment.
The kit comprises all the materials necessary to build the car to the point of a fully drivable rolling chassis. This chassis is made from lightweight aluminium tube. The bodywork design and manufacture is left to the creativity of the pupils involved!
The Goblin is designed to offer an opportunity for participation to as many pupils as possible and the method of assembly has been set out to this end. A team of up to fifteen pupils can safely be involved from the start, split into smaller teams to assemble different parts of the car.
The project then comes to an exciting finale when the finished product is raced against other Goblins in inter-school events. The main event is known as the 'Gathering of Goblins' and is held at the Goodwood Motor Circuit in July.
