Saturday 13 May saw 12 Goblins descend upon the Renishaw New Mills staff car park, for the first of our Renishaw supported events of the 2017 season.
After a windy evening the night proceeding the event, the weather calmed in time for the teams to take to the track. After the teams were briefed the schools were ready to weave their way through the slalom course, and tear up the drag race in the quickest time possible.
Thomas A Beckett’s Junior School's ‘TABinator’ had travelled all the way from Worthing in West Sussex to the Gloucester event, and were ready to show the other teams their well-practiced slalom techniques.
After the morning’s events were finished, the teams were ready for the sprint race. With the North Nibley CE Primary school team being very sportsman like and cheering on all of the teams, the event was buzzing with support for all of the competing teams during the sprint race. With extremely close racing, third place resulted in a draw between Freshford Primary Schools ‘FRESH1’ and Ducklington CE Primary schools ‘Lightening’. Hillesley C.E.V.A Primary school in 2nd place and Ducklington CE Primary Schools second car stormed to victory and took 1st place in the sprint race.
