KMF has been announced as a Centre of Excellence for the UK based charity, Greenpower Education Trust. KMF have been involved with Greenpower Education Trust’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) project for many years. KMF and Greenpower combined forces back in 2014 when the project was chosen for KMF’s annual Young Engineer of the Year competition and after the success in 2014, the project will be used again for the 2018 Young Engineer of the Year (YEOTY).

With the newly granted ‘Centre of Excellence’ status, KMF will provide advice and support to new and existing Greenpower teams by acting as a Greenpower hub in the Staffordshire area, helping the charity grow and expand across the UK.

KMF currently has a large outreach programme for schools, as well as winning industry ‘Skills Innovation’ awards in 2016 and 2017, which helped them clinch the Centre of Excellence status.

Amanda Barrett, Project Manager at Greenpower Education Trust commented ‘We’re so pleased to announce KMF as a Centre of Excellence.’

"KMF completely embraces all of Greenpower’s core values. It is very much in their nature to help others, and it is extremely important to them to promote STEM subjects to young people, which fits perfectly with our Centre of Excellence criteria."

Jenny Conlon, Training & Development Manager at KMF commented ‘After the success of KMF’s YEOTY programme with secondary schools in Staffordshire it became clear that there is a lack of business engagement and STEM encouragement in local schools. For this reason, we decided to open our Education Resource Centre, with the hope to encourage our youngsters into STEM subjects at a much younger age.”

“We are thrilled to be recognised as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ by Greenpower, which will allow us to work with a greater number of primary school students and introduce more local businesses to the charity.”

The Centre of Excellence programme was created by Greenpower Education Trust to ensure that the Greenpower project is accessible to all young people in the UK via schools, colleges and youth groups. Centers of Excellence will provide advice, as well as resources such as use and training in Siemens Solid Edge CAD program, use of tools to any local team that would like to be or are already involved in the project. With over 600 schools and institutions involved in the Greenpower project, the search is on to establish a hub in each region.
